I do think this is for the best. I think he should have been gone after the issue with the young lady. Police officers may be human but they have to keep them selves at a higher level of integrity than the people they patrol and I am sorry but Fitters does not have it. When the rumors about his activities surfaced, the first thought was to discard them, but rumors don't stick unless there is something to them, they go away, and these stuck. It scares me to think about what else he had done thats not ethical while he was a officer with E.P.D.

You thoughts hit it right on the head.

I think the young lady got bamboozled. She dropped her case cause the city said they'd pursue it, then he got a slap on the hand from the city. I saw it coming, too bad she didn't.
Wonder where he's going now?

My thought he is going to jail or probation. He knows it to or he never would have resigned. He would have made the city buy him to go away. He has been a joke for a long time. It also reflects on the evansville police dept. I have wondered how stupid he was, and know we all know. I agree that young lady got screwed by both the city and friendly officer fitters.

I would think this must be very humbling. But I am not surprised. He self destructed. My brother in law is a detective in a neighboring state and I am always picking on him for being so straight laced, stick in the mud.
But with him you get what you see, he is very ethical, almost to a fault. But I will take a straight laced stick in the mud, any day over someone who lies, and can't be trusted.

Cops are held to a higher standard. Good or not? If what I hear is true, if he were not a cop, it wouldn't have been as big a deal.

No it would have been a big deal, he still would have been in trouble. Its just a BIGGER DEAL because he is/was a cop. He more than the average joe, should have known better. This is a case where he thought he could get away with it because he is/was a cop. He abused his position not just this time but many times.
